My Winnipeg (dir. Guy Maddin)

A very understated director in my opinion. To me he's in the same league as David Lynch and Hitchcock. Guy Maddin's cinematic style is impeccable and very personal. He's one of those rare species you can tell within seconds of watching the feature. I love his subtle sense of humour and somewhat strange shyness. Watching Guy Maddin talk is uniq, enjoyable and very inspiring. He gives an impression of someone who never gives up and always tries to find the humour in everyday situations.
My Winnipeg is half documentary half biography - a very personal view of this somewhat industrial Canadian town.
I don't want to give out more - go see it - it's in cinemas as of Saturday. (Well, at least in BFI, this director is very difficult to come by in mainstream cinemas)
