A story about two brothers who after not seeing their father for ten years go on a 'bonding' trip with him. I won't tell more of the story, because everyone should see this movie. It won a bunch of awards - all of which were more than deserved - the performances are outstanding, the direction immaculate, the cinematography could be compared to Bergman's films and the sound is subtle and not intrusive. It's a simple story, but full of little emotions and personal battles that draw you in within seconds. It's a quiet and somewhat disturbing masterpiece which gets under your skin and lingers there long after the movie is over.
It's a shame that one of the main boys died the untimely death shortly after filming; he died playing dares with his friends, jumping of the very tower used in the films opening shot.
p.s. Thanks to Wal for lending the movie.

so you watched it after all :) i didn't know that garin died. but to get the facts right, he jumped in the lake, from a boat not from the tower. i'm trusting wikipedia here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladimir_Garin)
quite sad though.
Yup, did a bit of research - you're right, but it was the same lake they filmed most of the movie in. Very tragic. I read about the tower in of the reviews - no one else seem to have mentioned it. The movie has recieved Cannes award for the best film and the director has dedicated it to Garin.
