Che 1&2 (dir. Steven Soderbergh)

What a way to start New Year - Soderbergh's 'Che' is a must movie to watch.
Soderbergh puts more emphasis on ideology rather than possible side effects of the war. It's a one sided view in many ways - it shows Ernesto Che Guevara (Benicio Del Toro) as people's hero who never left anyone behind or betrayed a comrade. It's an idealistic view of a warrior, it's easy to see why people would love him and idealise him.
Don't watch it if you're expecting an honest portrayal of the revolution. This is a movie about a hero and it should be seen as one. Benicio Del Toro gives a wonderful performance. The film is well art directed, it's not a Hollywood epic drama, but rather a film resembling a well shot documentary.

Have you seen both parts?

I'm still holding off to watch this until I can see it back-to-back.

Yup, watched them back to back on New Year's day. Perfect time to spend in the cinema if you ask me. Walk in hungover, walk out sober.

Awesome! So you were obviously invited to some sort of special screening, right?

Man I can't wait till the dvd/bluray comes out, I couldn't watch this movie at my local cinema, way too many distractions!

By the way, have you heard of a site called http://www.whattorent.com/ ?

I found it a while ago, and it's a really nifty thing. You basically fill in a form once, and based on your answers the site gives you different titles that fit your 'profile'. And depending on what mood you're in, you can choose what kind of titles it recommends.

It's mostly older titles, but you still get things that you might have missed...

Actually it was nothing special, just a double bill screening at my local (wasn't even fully sold out).
I took a look at that website, it's interesting, has a good selection, but it's only 1 in 20 chance that I haven't seen it. It would be fun if they recommended new movies. However the selection is good and for anyone who's not that into film, but wants to dip in and out every once in a while - perfect!
Thanks for sharing.
